Private AI and local AI agent FAQ

Plain answers to the questions we hear most.

Frequently asked questions

What is a private AI agent?

A private AI agent is an AI assistant that runs in an environment you control and works on your own data, rather than sending it to a third-party service. It can answer questions, produce reports and run approved workflows.

What does on-premises or local AI mean?

The AI runs on hardware you own or host, such as a dedicated server in your office, instead of on a vendor’s cloud servers.

What does air-gapped mean, and is the agent really offline?

Air-gapped means no connection to the internet. Our agent is deployed without an internet connection. Updates are verified and applied through a controlled offline process.

What is RAG and why does it matter?

RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) lets the agent look up passages in your own documents and answer from them, with sources shown. It helps keep answers grounded in your information.

How is this different from ChatGPT or Copilot?

Cloud AI services process your prompts and files on the provider’s servers, and often charge per user. Our agent runs on your hardware, uses our custom-built Transformer and has no per-seat AI subscription. Where your data is processed is the main difference.

Does a local AI agent make us compliant with privacy laws?

No tool does that by itself. A local agent can reduce how much sensitive data leaves your control, but your obligations depend on your industry and location. Please consult your legal advisor.

Can the agent take actions on its own?

Not without approval. By default the agent reads and prepares, and a person approves anything that sends, pays or changes records.

What hardware do we need?

It depends on the number of users and the workflows. We scope the hardware during the AI Readiness Assessment.

Which industries do you serve?

Any industry that handles confidential information, including accounting and finance, legal, healthcare administration, construction, automotive and retail, manufacturing, and the public sector.

How much does it cost?

AI Readiness Assessments are $500 to $1,500. Individual workflows are $1,500 to $5,000 each. Transformation packages are $5,000 to $15,000 or more. Ongoing advisory is $500 to $2,000 per month. Private agent deployment is scoped per project.
